I plan on going to Ohio next week and I just noticed that every single show in the history of man-kind that I would’ve loved to see is happening those six days I’m gone.

This is why nobody takes a vacation in our little comedy sub-culture. Part of my brain knows this is ridiculous, but the other part is just so upset and loves to indulge. I figure this will be my short detox - an introduction to what my two-month Colombian adventure will be like in December.

This is the cast of Party Down, a show about LA cater waiters, and probably one of my favorite ensembles to come out of 2009. I know I have been tumbling a lot about TV this week but I have it ignored TV so much these last six months that now I can’t stop watching. Yes, its 1am. Yes, I will probably watch the last 4 episodes. Yes, I will be grumpy at work tomorrow, but c’est la vie.

Also, this if this was photoshopped any more people would look like those wax people from Madam Tussads. Am I Right?

Everyone must watch “Modern Family” now.

I - like many of you, I’d imagine - was initially skeptical about this show, based solely on its generic title and generically smiley print ads. But after watching the first four episodes, I am confident in proclaiming it not only the best new comedy this season, but perhaps the best new comedy on TV in years.

I’m generally distasteful of the holier-than-thou pitfalls of comedy snobbery; I’ve always disliked the notion that comedy approved by comedy fans is necessarily superior to comedy with mass appeal. While I love and respect Arrested Development and Mr. Show as much as the next writer-type, I also grew up watching and loving shows like Home Improvement and Caroline in the City. So what I love about Modern Family is how flawlessly it combines the best of both worlds (as Amir noted, its jokes appeal to “comedy nerds and everybody else”) - it takes a simple, grounded concept and spices it up with whip-smart writing, fully realized characters, and pitch-perfect, subtle acting.

Perhaps most excitingly, the show goes a long way towards erasing the negative connotation that the phrase “family sitcom” has acquired over the last ten years. With the advent of single-camera shows like The Office, Scrubs, It’s Always Sunny and 30 Rock, watching a family hang out in a living room suddenly became passe. But Modern Family proves yet again that sitcoms thrive on characters, not premises. It’s an inspiring reminder that with the right writing and performances, fantastic comedy can and always will be mined from the simplest, most relatable of sources.

i hate my mighty mouse

does anyone have trouble with their mighty mouse? i absolutely hate mine. it always goes on these rampages where it toggles my whole desktop without me having any control over it. i sometimes regret having a desktop because of this mouse — but then it starts working again, and i completely forget hating it.

that is the pattern to my life — just substiute mighty mouse for anything else in my life (job, family, relationships etc).

writing every day......maybe.

It’s so hard for me to just sit down and write sometimes. I have this idea in my head that I can only start writing on Mondays..or first of the month. I am trying to break that so that little things I think of I will be able to just pop in here and then expand on later.

Sunday fact: I don’t have many friends with tattoos. I feel like in high school everyone was always planning out their sleeves and today I saw an improviser with half a sleeve and I was so proud of him. It’s weird to feel pride for someone you don’t know but I was like HECK YEAH MAN, no one is putting your dreams down! And now with this impending 7 weeks vacation in which I’m leaving New York behind for South America, my brain is sceaming all these irrational things — SHAVE YOUR HEAD. GET YOUR NOSED PIERCED AGAIN. SMOKE AMERICAN SPIRITS. LEARN HOW TO RIDE A MOTORCYCLE. Basically my brain is just telling me to become a second rate Natalie Portman but social protocol holds me back.

I like how I pretend to be an adult but all my wishes are extremely childish.

I am now eligible for insurance at work and I just don’t know if I really can afford it at the moment because its so damn expensive. Comes out to like ~170 a month….which includes like dental/medical/eyecare. I don’t really have anything else to compare it to, is this too much or okay? That is the medium plan.

ps. also nothing to do with health insurance but i like the background of this picture..its like…whats going on, am i right…yes i am.

I walked by her near Times Square. She was talking and laughing with her friends. Super cute.

This face is why I waited an hour and a half to eat at Clinton St. bakery last year (pre The Wrestler.) So every time I see her, I just wanna punch her in the face. Me no likey you, Marisa.
